Eric “Doc” Jones is a lifelong New Orleanian — once a dedicated educator, now a passionate golf coach on a mission. After decades of shaping young minds and advocating for students and families across New Orleans public schools, he is channeling his teaching expertise into another kind of education: the game of golf. As “The Golf Doctor,” Eric brings the same patience, insight, and encouragement he used in the classroom, now to the fairways and greens of courses throughout the city.
As head golf coach at St. Augustine High School and a coach for golfers of all ages across New Orleans, Eric combines technical know-how with an educator’s heart. Players and parents alike respect him for his clear communication, steady guidance, and his knack for helping golfers improve naturally — not by forcing mechanics, but by building confidence, consistency, and a deeper love for the game.
Beyond youth and amateur golf, Eric serves as an active coach with PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere), the national initiative from PGA of America designed to introduce golf to Veterans and Active-Duty Military personnel to support their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. For Eric, this is more than coaching — it’s community, healing, and purpose.
Jones brings to golf a rare combination: decades of teaching experience, deep community roots in New Orleans, and a genuine love for helping individuals reach their potential. Whether you’re picking up clubs for the first time in your life, polishing your swing for high school competition, or rediscovering the game later in life, with The Golf Doctor, you're not just improving your golf, you're becoming part of a supportive team that values growth, dignity, and fun.
